We’re welcoming a new member with a big mission this month! Operated by the Center for Family Violence Prevention, My Sister’s Closet serves a unique purpose in the community. While it welcomes shoppers looking for quality clothing, handbags, accessories, and other items at affordable prices, it also provides an essential resource for individuals rebuilding their lives after experiencing domestic violence. Revenue generated through the thrift store directly supports the Center’s programs and services, helping further its mission of breaking cycles of violence while strengthening individuals and families.
For many of the Center’s clients, leaving an unsafe situation means leaving with very few personal belongings. My Sister’s Closet allows those individuals to shop with dignity, selecting clothing and everyday essentials that help them regain a sense of normalcy. Whether someone needs casual clothing, professional attire for a job interview, or basic necessities to begin again, the store provides a welcoming environment where they can find what they need while looking toward the future. Community support plays an important role in making that mission possible.
Every purchase made in the store helps fund services offered by the Center for Family Violence Prevention, while donated items provide new opportunities for both shoppers and clients. It’s a simple way for community members to make a meaningful impact, whether by shopping, donating, or sharing information about the store with others.
Awareness remains one of the organization’s greatest needs.
