Chamber Staff
Our Chamber is led by our Executive Director, the organization’s sole permanent staff member. Our current staff also includes an Assistant Admin as well as part time interns. These role is overseen and supported by the Board of Directors, which is made up of dedicated volunteers from within our membership who support the Chamber’s mission and program of work.

Rebecca Caveness
Rebecca Caveness started as Executive Director in January of 2022, after previously serving on our Board of Directors starting in 2019, then acting as Assistant Director from April of 2021. She grew up in Winterville, watched her parents’ business grow here, and made the choice to start her own in the area as well.
Rebecca has first hand experience to the needs of a business owner, and the passion she has for our community is contagious. She jokes that if you stand too close to her, you’ll get pulled in to the service of Winterville, too.

Abigail Chaffey
Abigail Chaffey joined the Winterville Chamber of Commerce as an Administrative Assistant in March 2026, following her experience as an events intern. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Cedarville University in December 2024. Abigail brings a background in event planning and sports promotion to her role. Originally she is from London, Ohio, and moved to Winterville, North Carolina after getting married last June. She is currently a participant in the NC Works and Rivers East WEX program which made it possible for her to work at the Winterville Chamber of Commerce.

Marcos Smith
Marcos Smith is a Business Administration student at North Carolina State University concentrating in Operations and Supply Chain Management. As the Content and Member Relations Intern for the Winterville Chamber of Commerce, he supports member engagement through business spotlights and community-focused communication efforts. Marcos is passionate about connecting with local businesses and supporting growth throughout the Winterville community. Outside of work, he enjoys staying involved on campus and building professional relationships throughout North Carolina.

Nicole Matos
Nicole Matos is a rising senior at East Carolina University, majoring in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. She is passionate about storytelling and creating meaningful connections through strategic communication.
She has been an intern with the Winterville Chamber of Commerce since May 2025 and is excited to continue in that role while also joining McKeeman Communications in Raleigh this summer as a 2026 intern. Through these experiences, she is gaining hands-on skills in social media, writing, and supporting impactful campaigns.
After graduating, Nicole hopes to build a career in communications, public relations, or digital marketing, where she can continue bringing ideas to life and making a lasting impact.
