Athena Fitness Collections is being welcomed to our Winterville Chamber family this month. Founded with athletes in mind, Athena Fitness Collections specializes in performance headbands designed to provide both comfort and functionality for runners and fitness enthusiasts. What began in 2012 as a small Etsy shop has grown into a purpose-driven brand focused on solving a common problem for active individuals. Athena headbands are designed with double-layered, moisture-wicking materials that absorb sweat and stay securely in place, offering a reliable alternative to traditional options that often slip or lose effectiveness during workouts. Created by someone who understands the demands of endurance training, the products are built to enhance performance and allow individuals to stay focused on their activity. Athena Fitness Collections has been recognized in publications such as Runner’s World and Running Journal and continues to expand its offerings, including the development of a men’s line that combines function with a strong, athletic design. While rooted in running, the products are versatile and well-suited for a wide range of sports and fitness routines.
At its core, Athena Fitness Collections is built on a passion for health and personal growth. The brand reflects a shift from focusing on appearance to prioritizing strength, endurance, and overall well-being. That message resonates through both the products and the community it serves. Athena Fitness Collections is led by Mary Countryman, a seasoned runner who has completed 18 marathons, an ultramarathon, a half Ironman, and more than 40 half marathons. She is actively involved in the Winterville community through the Chamber, the Pitt Small Business Center, and St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
